Sony Blames PS3 Gaming Console For Profit Loss
I see where Sony has taken a slight nose dive this fiscal year in their profit margin. From reading the Washington Post, I gather that Sony is blaming it on their newest PS3 Gaming Console. They had problems manufacturing the PS3 which resulted in them not having enough consoles for the masses, plus they had to ship the devices by air instead of boat to the United States to make the Christmas rush. Matter of fact this corporation is so behind that Europe will be out of the loop completely and will not receive shipments until March. Another reason for the nose dive is due to the start up costs for the consoles such as shipping costs and advertising. This is one element I feel Sony did not plan for well and they will have one heck of a time trying to recuperate during this fiscal year. Put this information together with them slashing prices around 20% in Japan before sales started, it is no wonder they didn’t lose their shirts completely.
Sony is now facing the problem of having to plan better for the next fiscal year by figuring out where they went wrong, then fixing the problems and glitches so they run like a well oiled machine like they once did. Of course they might plan to drop prices earlier than planned to help make up for the loss.
From what I understand, Sony has slashing prices already factored in their profit planning as they’ve done it to every gaming console they have created and sold on the market. Consumers can always count on this fact a few months to a year after this company releases a new console. The real question is, are they going to have to slash prices for the PS# soon then they planned? I would be willing to bet my new truck that they will.
So, if you are one of the unlucky people who did not get a PS# gaming console yet, I suggest you follow the news to see what Sony does in the next couple of months. You maybe pleasantly surprised to see that your waiting paid off.
